Detroit Rock City!!

Halloween is my favorite holiday. Getting to play dress up and decorate your house with ghouls and goblins? Yes please!

Our neighborhood has an annual adults-only party where everyone goes all out for their costumes. For this annual neighborhood party, we were required by the party's host and hostess to come as either celebrities or rock stars. It's always a struggle to come up with a good couple's costume but this year was so much fun!

Introducing Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley from KISS! (I'm Gene, my husband is Paul, in case it wasn't apparent.)

Eyebrow pencil is wonderful for adding chest hair. I grossed quite a few of the guys out!
And you can't be a KISS character without platform shoes...mine got the fang treatment:

They were surprisingly comfy...for about 2 hours.
I worked for a week on the costumes - sewing and painting and velcro-ing:
  • 3 yards of pleather
  • 1 yard of shiny silver fabric
  • 3 bottles of silver 3-D fabric paint
  • a silver paint pen
  • a yard of studded pleather ribbon
  • 3 ft. of velcro
  • 3 yards of shoe laces
Add wigs, an athletic cup, makeup and black spandex exercise clothes and we were transformed. The biggest compliment I got all evening was when the host said he didn't know who I was until I started talking. Now that's a good costume!

We rocked that party.

What was your favorite costume? You still dress up, don't you??

I'm linking up to Blue Eyed Owl's Halloween Costume link party - go see who else dressed up and vote for your favorite!
